Australian Senator Ralph Babet called for the band’s deportation after footage of the exchange circulated on social media. Babet condemned the remark, labeling it as advocating for violence and emphasizing its unacceptable nature. “To advocate and wish for the assassination of a President is egregious, disgusting, filthy, evil, and not acceptable in any way,” stated Babet in a strongly worded statement.

In response to the outcry, the band’s scheduled performance in Newcastle, New South Wales, was postponed by the promoter Frontier Touring. While some defended the comment as a joke, the severity of the backlash prompted widespread criticism, including from Australian radio host Kyle Sandilands, who announced a boycott of future Tenacious D interviews.
